The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) 153rd Anniversary Scholarship is now open for application. The Scholarship is to award local secondary students with outstanding academic performance and currently pursuing Year 1 undergraduate programme in a local higher education institution. A quota of no less than 15 scholarships will be awarded to students to subsidize their tuition fees, learning activities, and living expenses. Subject to the decision of the Scholarship Management Committee, scholarship recipients shall receive a lump sum varying from $10,000 to $20,000. The maximum total scholarship amount may up to $300,000. Awardees may continue to receive other scholarships at the same time.
Criteria
Each local secondary school Principal may nominate 1 student of the school who was admitted to a full-time registered undergraduate programme for the 2023/24 academic year in a local higher education institution. The student should attain level 5** in 2 or more subjects in the 2023 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination.
Selected students should have outstanding academic performance, good character, devotion to community affairs, and active participation in extra-curricular activities and voluntary work. Priority will be given to students from families receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance or receiving full-grant under the Student Financial Assistance Scheme, and to those who have experience of overcoming adversity.
Each Secondary School Principal may nominate 1 more student who overcomes special difficulties in life (e.g. disabilities and unique background) through “Principal Special Nomination” and that student can be exempted from the above lowest academic criterion in HKDSE but should have admitted to a full-time registered undergraduate degree programme through JUPAS in 2023/24.
