TWGHs since 1870 Radio Programmes

TWGHs has served the people of Hong Kong for 145 years, providing diversified services to meet changing needs of the community. To share some of the memorable stories with the public, “TWGHs since 1870 Radio Programmes”, co-organized by TWGHs and CRHK, will be broadcasted during five consecutive Mondays in November.

Each episode is composed of two sessions: DJs of “18/F Block C” radio dramas and chit-chat session hosted by Mr. Stephen CHAN will interview guests to share their memorable TWGHs experiences.

 

 


Episode 1: Preservation of Cultural Heritage

Radio Drama: About the fire of Happy Valley Racecourse in 1918 and the Race Course Fire Memorial and Cemetery

145 Parade.Man Mo Temple Rites

In commemoration of its 145th anniversary and its charitable footprints, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals will organize the Man Mo Ti Parade in the Tai Ping Shan district, which represents the earliest Chinese settlement. The hundred-feet long dragon, lion dance, the Three Princes, marching band, street dance, tai chi, wushu (martial arts), oldies singers and dancers will also join the procession. Citizens are welcome to both attend and take photos of the parade, to experience firsthand the grand occasion of the touring of the Man Mo Gods [God of Literature (Man Ti) and the Martial God (Mo Ti)], and the fine tradition of local cultural heritage. To pay homage to the Man Ti and Mo Ti and to invoke peace and prosperity for the people of Hong Kong, the parade will be followed by the annual Autumn Sacrificial Rites to be held at 12 noon at the Man Mo Temple at Hollywood Road.

Partial road closure will be exercised along above roads, participating citizens should be caution to their own safety and follow arrangements made by the organizer. Motorists are advised to be patient when driving at the vicinity and follow Police’s instruction.  The public are advised to use public transport services as far as possible and avoid driving to the affected area.

TWGHs Sing with a Star Competition

Campaign period:

October : 12 October 2015 – 30 October 2015 (Completed)

November : 2 November 2015 – 23 November 2015

 

To celebrate the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) 145th Anniversary, TWGHs has joined hands with CRHK to organize a fundraising programme named ‘TWGHs Sing with a Star Competition’ in October and November this year.

To encourage more youth participation in the competition, fans can now record down your singing performance in audio or video format and then make at least $20 donation to support TWGHs services.

4 singers will take part in each month and each of them will recommend three songs for their Fans’ selection. To showcase your singing talents while supporting TWGHs services, Fans can now grab this chance and take action now!

How to play:

  1. Participant is required to fill in the enrollment form which can be found in the dedicated website of TWGHs x CRHK for 145th Anniversary;
  2. Select a song from the songs list, then record down your singing performance in video or audio format. Please just sing the chorus without instrument accompaniments;
  3. Make at least $20 donation to TWGHs, please be reminded to copy the donation reference number;
  4. After completing the donation process, please return to the site of TWGHs x CRHK for 145th Anniversary and continue filling in the enrollment form. Please be reminded to fill in the donation reference number; and
  5. Last step is to upload your audio or video clip and submit.

 

Prizes:

  • Each singers will select one winner and 4 outstanding performers.
  • Winners and outstanding performers’ video or audio clip will be displayed on the dedicated website of TWGHs x CRHK for 145th Anniversary, TWGHs 145th Anniversary website and TWGHs Facebook.
  • Winners will be awarded a special gift from the song’s singer and TWGHs. The other 4 outstanding performers will receive a prize from TWGHs.

 

Points to Note:

  • Each participant can only upload one submission of every song.
  • Each participant has to make at least $ 20 donation to TWGHs.
  • Winners will be announced on the dedicated website of TWGHs x CRHK for 145th Anniversary, TWGHs 145th Anniversary website  and TWGHs facebook in November 2015.
  • Participants are required to follow the rules and regulations of the campaign.

Two participants got precious experience of being Bakery Trainees at TWGHs iBakery. Besides producing cookies and mochi breads, they also tried the packaging work. They have seen the duties of Bakery Trainee in a new light after working at iBakery for a day.
