Educational Psychologist I

Location: Sheung Wan
Roles & responsibilities:
- Provide psycho-educational assessment and intervention services for students with learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties;
- provide consultation and support to school personnel and parents on intervention strategies and deliver appropriate programmes to accommodate students’ diverse educational needs;
- support and develop schools to cater for student diversity;
- support schools in managing crises and critical incidents;
- conduct training and sharing activities;
- participate in research and development work;
- advise, facilitate and advance the development of educational psychology services;
- supervise professional staff including planning and evaluation of services projects, staff disciplines and performance assessment of social workers and Educational Psychologists II; and
- perform other relevant duties as required.
The ideal candidate should have/be:
- a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from a local university or equivalent;
- a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology (Professional Practice) from a local university or equivalent;
- a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from a local university or equivalent;
- a minimum of 6 years’ relevant post-degree experience of which at least 3 years should be as an Educational Psychologist;
- full membership of the Division of Educational Psychology of the Hong Kong Psychological Society or an equivalent status in an internationally recognized professional organization of Educational Psychology; and
- proficiency in Chinese and English.

Compensation & employment terms:
The successful candidate will be appointed on contract terms with a salary currently at $82,330 per month (Tung Wah Master Pay Scale Point 34). Entry salary depends on years of recognized experience. The salary is subject to downward/upward adjustment or may be frozen as determined by Tung Wah and/or as appropriate with reference to the civil service pay review. The fringe benefits include paid annual leave, medical services, a dental scheme and training sponsorships.
