TWGHs Lee Ching Dea Memorial College Won 4 Awards in an Anti-drug Film Competition
To help tackle the drug abuse issue and spread the anti-drug message among youngsters, a group of 5 Form Three students of TWGHs Lee Ching Dea Memorial College entered into the “Anti-drug Short Film Competition” organized by the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, The Action Committee Against Narcotics, RTHK and Youth.gov.hk in December 2008. The Competition, one of the most important drugs preventive education and publicity programmes in town, is aimed at disseminating the message of “No Drugs. No Regrets. Not Now. Not Ever”
The short film, based on a teenager’s bitter experience of abusing drugs and losing a friend who was engaged in drug trafficking activity, won 4 awards, namely the Championship in Secondary Section, Best Script, Best Photography and Best Short Film, at the presentation ceremony held on 20 May 2009.
Students were overwhelmed by excitement. On review, they have had wonderful experiences of going through the various thinking processes in film production, ranging from story board, scripts writing, casting to shooting. And most of all, to learn about drug abuse and to convey its health hazards is definitely an experience not to be forgotten. The film is now available for viewing at http://www.rthk.org.hk/special/antidrug/
