Assistant Building Services Inspector

(REF: A3/ABSI/PD/NET)

Location: Sheung Wan

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Check and report the progress of works and provide professional advice and take appropriate actions to rectify technical problems related to the building services encountered on sites;
  • attend meetings as directed by superior, coordinate and liaise with nominated sub-contractors, consultants, suppliers, user Divisions;
  • check defects related to the building services for users, identify discrepancies on site and report findings to superior;
  • prepare cost estimate, rough sketches, outline working drawings and simple tender documents, etc. on the parts related to the building services for minor works;
  • prepare rough sketches and outline working drawings on the parts related to the building services for superior’s review and approval;
  • supervise and provide guidance to subordinates; and
  • perform any ad hoc duties and tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have/be:

  • (a) Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Services Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute plus 4 years’ relevant experience in major building services engineering works and electrical & mechanical (E&M) maintenance works; or
    (b) Certificate in Building Services Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute plus 6 years’ relevant experience in major building services engineering works and E&M maintenance works; and
  • preferably technical competency with good interpersonal skills.

Compensation & employment terms:

The successful candidate will initially be offered a 3-year contract with a remuneration package which will be commensurate with his/her background and experience.  The continuation of employment and employment terms thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.  Apart from contributions to the MPF Scheme, other benefits include paid annual leave, medical services, a dental scheme and training sponsorships.  The incumbent will normally work under a 5-day week schedule subject to operational needs and exigencies of the service.
