Hostel Officer
(REF: A3/HOSO/HCYD/PD/NET)
Location: San Po Kong
Roles & responsibilities:
- Assist superiors in management/leasing of the Group’s hostel and in developing a strategic plan for the hostel accommodation;
- assist in development, review and document hostel policies and protocols to ensure consistent and sustainable operations of the hostel;
- monitor safety and wellbeing of the lodgers, licensees and visitors while ensuring living environments are in compliance with statutory requirements and standards;
- draft annual hostel budget and monitor on-going expenditure budgets;
- monitor inventory levels and place orders for products and supplies for the hostel;
- collect, analyze and interpret data to help hostel staff to provide service to clients;
- attend emergency calls and urgent duty round the clock;
- handle emergency situations and assist in conducting investigations and submit reports to superiors;
- handle complaints, enquires and requests from customers, lodgers, licensees and visitors; and
- perform any duties as assigned by superiors and may need to work after office hours, Sundays and public holidays.
The ideal candidate should have/be:
- a Higher Diploma/Associate Degree in Hospitality or related discipline;
- at least 2 years’ working experience in managing hotels, hostels, university dormitories, etc., of which at least 1 year in a supervisory position;
- well conversant with the prevailing regulations in hostel operation;
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- ability to respond appropriately and professionally in crisis situations;
- strong interpersonal and influencing skills and ability to communicate effectively with all level of colleagues/customers;
- good knowledge of budget preparation and formulation;
- good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, ability to speak Putonghua is a definite advantage; and
- high proficiency in computer usage.

Compensation & employment terms:
The successful candidate will initially be offered a 3-year contract with a remuneration package which will be commensurate with his/her background and experience. The continuation of employment and employment terms thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Apart from contributions to the MPF Scheme, other benefits include paid annual leave, medical services, a dental scheme and training sponsorships.
