- Tung Wah operates 2 special schools for children with mild grade and moderate grade intellectual disability aged between 6 and 18 years, which together serve a student population of about 289. Both of the special schools have been selected by the Education Bureau to serve as a “Special School cum Resource Centre” for mainstream primary schools, providing support for students with special educational needs and their parents.
- Both of our special schools operate boarding sections, providing accommodation and training programmes for children with special needs.
- Subjects offered include languages, Mathematics, General Studies, Visual Arts, Physical Education, Music, Information and Communication Technology and Liberal Studies. Speech Therapy and associated training through Daily Routine Approach Learning and Treatment & Education of Autistic & related Communication-handicapped Children (TEACCH) programme are provided to children with speech and language problem. The schools also place great emphasis on pre-vocational training and developing students’ communication, self-care, perceptual-motor and social skills for independent living.
- The schools organize various activities to help students develop good physique, body co-ordination and good inter-personal relationship.
