Chairman’s Message

Chairman Mr. SZE Wing Hang, Ivan

As a charity organization, we would like to see the aided becoming self-sufficient through professional training provided by TWGHs, from which they can acquire recognition from the society.

Consider iBakery. Despite the early difficulties in training physically-challenged employees, iBakery has become a renowned social enterprise in three years with the great efforts of our colleagues. Recently, it was offered a one-dollar tenant agreement at Winsor House for setting up its first pop-up store in the downtown area and the collaboration with Hyatt Regency Kyoto for the launch of its Green Tea Cookies. These are great examples of the harmonic cross-border cooperations between the business community and social enterprise.

BiciLine is another successful case. BiciLine is a social enterprise which provides job opportunities for young people through ecotourism promotion. It has been widely recognized, served over 18,000 customers, and has extended its service area from Yuen Long to West Kowloon with SmartBike.

The goal of TWGHs’ social enterprise is to assist the underprivileged in terms of self-sufficiency and self-esteem with various training. We are going to explore more services and brands to keep up with the needs of the society and people.

Setting up a shop at the business centre is almost impossible for a social enterprise, but iBakery, one of the TWGHs’ social enterprises, has been offered a one-dollar tenant agreement for 4 months by the supportive business community, fulfilling the dream of selling cookies made by the physically-challenged in a prime location.

The opening ceremony of the new pop-up store was held on 15 April 2014. At the ceremony, Mr. Ivan SZE, the Chairman, said that the new pop-up store indicated a successful inter-sector cooperation and set a good example for the collaboration between social enterprise and the business community.

iBakery also introduces Green Tea Cookies at the new shop after receiving training from the chief patisserie of Hyatt Regency Kyoto, which represents a cross – cultural communication and cooperation.
