Location: Kwai Chung
Roles & responsibilities:
- Assist with hands-on treatment of the archive collections under the supervision of a conservator;
- assist with the general maintenance and organization of the conservation room;
- prepare and assist in recording conservation and collections care activities through written and visual means;
- participate in routine inspections and collection care activities;
- rehouse and label collection items for safe storage;
- prepare collection materials for digitization or photography;
- assist in implementing heritage and education programs of the Records and Heritage Office; and
- perform any other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate should have/be:
- a recognized degree, preferably in conservation, art, museums, archives, rare books libraries or other related disciplines;
- minimum 2 years’ working experience, preferably with formal on-the-job experience in conservation, craftsmanship, such as bookbinding, printmaking, or paper crafting;
- ability to concentrate on detailed tasks for extended periods;
- demonstrate excellent manual dexterity and meticulous attention to detail;
- strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; and
- excellent written and verbal communication skills in Chinese and English.

Compensation & employment terms:
The successful candidate will be appointed on contract terms with a salary currently at $20,770 per month (Tung Wah Master Pay Scale Point 6). The salary is subject to downward/upward adjustment or may be frozen as determined by Tung Wah and/or as appropriate with reference to the civil service pay review. The fringe benefits include paid annual leave, medical services, a dental scheme and training sponsorships.
